A GYPSY'S TALE: THE TOWER OF SECRETS Review by DoubleGames
A Gypsy’s Tale: The Tower of Secrets is a new hidden object adventure game, which has you playing as Reylin of Winderalth, who has to break an awful curse. Reylin is a gypsy that has to travel into an enigmatical maze where she has to avoid horrible snares, solve puzzles and stop the curse from spreading.
According to the storyline, A Gypsy’s Tale: The Tower of Secrets is a classical pattern of the hidden object genre. We respect classical titles as they are always well-done and have a good portion of intricacy. But sometimes this rule is broken by some careless developers. Unfortunately, Amaranth Games, the creators of the game under discussion, turned out to be negligent in their work making lots of issues there.
Apart from the really marvelous artwork and comfortable use of in-game map, we cannot help but feel that this installment is very lacking. Firstly, the plot feels like it is added as an afterthought, with very little interaction between the heroes until the very last chapter. Secondly, the gameplay left much to be desired, offering nothing original but do this, go here or there, find an item, the series of moves that you keep on doing over and over again during the whole game. Thirdly, it is extremely repetitive and too annoying, and a player will find himself getting tiring fast. As for backgrounds, sometimes it is rather hard to point out some hidden items. Making objects hard to see is a good idea, but making them absolutely invisible against the background of the same color is not pretty funny, not is making them too small. One good thing is that the developers do not punish you for clicking on everything. Otherwise, the game would be unplayable at all.
However, the spooky music during A Gypsy’s Tale: The Tower of Secrets is definitely set the mysterious mood of the game. But we need something more than decent music.
