AVEYOND: THE DARKTHROP PROPHECY Review by DoubleGames
Aveyond: The Darkthrop Prophecy is the forth installment in the Aveyond series from Amaranth Games. Though this is a modern game, it looks like a premise from the 80’s. Anyway this fact shouldn’t bother very much as this final chapter is as good as the others have been.
The experienced role playing gamer will recognize places and some characters coped from the previous titles. However, Aveyond: The Darkthrop Prophecy is different in many ways. There are tons of pleasant surprises and a lot of fun. The forth Aveyond is longer than other sibling titles, and not too linear as there is a lot of going back and forth. So if you get accustomed to finish one scene, and then move on to the next one never look back, this installment is not for you. This gameplay implies a lot of backtracking and interviewing people. So, new things may happen in locations you were sure was ‘completed’.
Aveyond: The Darkthrop Prophecy surely gets better and more challenging as you get further into it. Scene by scene the gameplay becomes more dynamic and interesting as you encounter with new characters. The graphics and music soundtracks perfectly fit to the game idea. Moreover, good production values help create wonderful game atmosphere and deliver a delightful fantasy adventure.
Today’s Super Mario brothers look quite odd on market but this game can really delight you very much. Thanks to willing hands of the developers, most of role playing gamer will love this experience but some really sensual die-hard fans will probably shed a tear in memory of old times and old role playing games.
