This time, you are to investigate the murder of a famous opera singer, wandering through the theatre in search of clues. There is a bit too much dialogue, which, nevertheless, are pretty well written, and the events unfold not very convincing. In fact, your task is to delve into the personal belongings of the theater employees, collect random items from the list and question suspects, jumping between the hidden object scenes and the mini-games. There is no ability to freely explore the game world, and your partner gives you so many instructions, that even after an hour of play you won’t be able to shake the feeling that you have not yet completed the tutorial.

A couple of years ago, the graphics like that of Eastville Chronicles: The Drama Queen Murder would have seemed to us almost perfect, but today there are hundreds of games with far more quality backgrounds, better characters and great animation. The point is that most scenes in Eastville Chronicles: The Drama Queen Murder are crystal clear, but absolutely static. The sides of the screen often sink in the darkness, while the illuminated areas merge into white patches. In addition, for some strange reason most game locations are oddly tilted to one side, as if your character looks at them bowing his head. You can not even imagine how confusing and disorienting such a seemingly small shortcoming is!

The hidden object scenes are not bad in general, slightly reminiscent of childish collages, but much prettier than that of Time Chronicles: The Missing Mona Lisa. Most of the items lie in plain sight. Hints recharge in a couple of seconds. Also, oddly enough, even in casual mode there is a penalty for random clicks. As for the conundrums, they are quite simple and mostly pretty common. I have encountered a couple of very intricate puzzle, but it is more the exception than the rule.

Besides, there is no voiceover, the music is mediocre and the sound effects are frankly unpleasant, so after half an hour of play you will most likely turn the sound off, remaining in complete silence with tons of hidden object scenes and thousands of common mini-game, randomly scattered around the game. Perhaps, it is still better than doing nothing, but if you have an alternative, play something else!
