EMPRESS OF THE DEEP: THE DARKEST SECRET Review by DoubleGames
Empress of the Deep: The Darkest Secret is a hidden object adventure hybrid developed by Big Fish Games that follows the fantastic adventures of a brave girl named Anna. Anna wakes up in an underwater crypt, unable to remember anything. Later she learns she’s been imprisoned there for 100 years, and now she must use her best skills to escape and uncover the mystery.
The storyline is intriguing with just the right portion of dialogs and challenging enough to satisfy most adventure enthusiasts. Finding objects is fairly clear, since they are hidden in plain sight with some color blending. In addition to finding hidden objects in busy backgrounds, you also navigate around that creepy world collecting inventory items and solving logical mini-games. The mini-games include a bit of everything you usually get in this type of game, from jigsaws to standard passwords. Alas, there is nothing new in these tasks.
Empress of the Deep: The Darkest Secret game allows you to skip mini-games after a short time. Fortunately, there is a map that shows you where you are and what you still need to visit. The title does not hold your hand the way through, so you are to use your brain and figure things out for yourself. Nevertheless, the hint system is generous, providing you with unlimited hints, which recharge very quickly.
Actually, Empress of the Deep: The Darkest Secret is flawless. The artwork, plot and music completely immerse you in that mysterious world, and keep you there up to the end. However, this would be rated five stars if the gameplay were a bit longer. Good luck!
