Entwined: Strings of Deception is an intriguing murder mystery from Urchin Games, proving that mystery game can be interesting without ghosts or whatnot. So, be ready to take the role of a detective investigating a murder, put all clues together and disclose an evil-doer... Read more

The story runs on an inventor, who died under questionable and vague circumstances. As an efficient detective you are to prowl his mansion for clues, interview the staff to get to the bottom of the crime. The scene is laid in 1970 and the items and settings are absolutely appropriate to that time. Although the storyline appears to be quite tangled, playing is logical.

Surely, the hidden object scenes are perfectly done, with the majority of the objects being fit for the environment and the times. You will appreciate the brightness and vividness of each scenery. Graphically, Entwined: Strings of Deception looks dated, as the they were taken from a game of five or six yours ago. Nevertheless, this “old-fashioned” style makes sense, adding much on game atmosphere. However, the artwork is brilliant and very colorful. The hidden object scenes are always clear, a bit too cluttered, but never blurry or fuzzy.

The game is well-organized and though-out. Firstly, there is a useful map which reveals the locations to visit and gives you an idea of how to get there. Secondly, there is a good hint system that not only helps in hidden object puzzles, but also tells what to do next (maybe this is too generous, so use it carefully).

Unfortunately, the voice-overs are not the best there. As a result, the characters speak rather annoying and you can’t wait when they finish their speech. In this connection, the music background is also rather boring, but not so irritating.

All in all, Entwined: Strings of Deception is a nice Hidden Object Title that follows the best terms of a mystery genre, very well crafted in terms of style and graphics. Thanks to this installment your Sunday afternoon will be busy.
