GRIM FACADE: MYSTERY OF VENICE Review by DoubleGames
What do you hope to get downloading a game? An imposing adventure? Yes, we are eager to escape from our everyday routine and to find ourselves in some another time and location, where we can become a hero, a detective, or a traveler. Grim Facade: Mystery of Venice by Big Fish Games is the very case, when beauty, danger, adventures and mystery are interlaced intricately.
The events take place in old Italy. You are going to reveal a kidnapping case. A lady and her daughter disappear after they have leaved masquerade. Their husband and father calls you for help, and you set off for search of a masked stranger who’s been seen with the women in a gondola floating away. After their boat passes under the bridge, all three as if vanish into thin air leaving the empty gondola on the water. Thus, the storyline of Grim Facade: Mystery of Venice is quite intriguing and leaves a great area to conjecture, to concoct, to guess. The developers have done the right thing playing cards close to their chest.
The gameplay is extremely complicated, making you feel all the time that you are tensed being one step behind the stranger in the Medico Della Peste mask. The game situations are combined very skillfully and make attractive backward and forward between Hidden Object scenes.
From the very beginning, Grim Facade: Mystery of Venice is extremely gorgeous from the graphical point of view. Romantic locations of Venice just impress at first appearance. You get inimitable aesthetical delight through all the game period.
The only point worth criticizing a bit is sounding, voice acting namely. While musical themes are splendid expressed through flute, guitar and tambourine melodies, the voice acting is inconsistent vexatiously. For instance, the chief of police’s Italian accent is too exaggerated. And this is not the only example.
All in all, Grim Facade: Mystery of Venice is deserving to take place in your library of downloadable games for sure. It represents the case of high-quality Hidden Object games, which is far from being called mediocre.
