Hidden Mysteries: The Forbidden City

Gunnar Games have released their new game Hidden Mysteries: The Forbidden City. It is a Hidden Object game and the storyline is addicting. Take on the role of Evelyn Tao, an intelligent university professor. Unfortunately she is grief stricken due to the recent death of her father. So she has headed home to explore her old family home and the place where her father lived his whole life. While she is exploring the house, she discovers a load of old documents, while on the surface they look like junk when she studies them more in-depth they turn out to be a load of hand written journals. Follow his hand written note in search for treasure in Hidden Mysteries: The Forbidden City! Action is going in China, we are pretty sure that most of you will like the oriental sights and the china scenery.

But despite a promising storyline and the beauty of the view, the game can bring more frustration than joy. We found it very boring, the movement is very slow and way too easy apart from the puzzles which just don’t interest at all! Some of the puzzles were tricky but not impossible. Basically, you pick up fragmented items and then have to place those items in different scenes. That’s the bulk of the game. Plus, there are standard HOS with a list. It’s those items that go into inventory, like a key, that you use in the scenes. But this game is primarily Hidden Objects, and if you are not a fan of this genre this game you may not like it.

Now let’s take a look at the music and graphics. The graphic is good, but not the best. The colors are very nice. Music is also good, but it repeats over and over and over again and its not exactly the most pleasant music.

All in all we can say that Hidden Mysteries: The Forbidden City is a good game that could bring you joy, no matter who you are – a skilled player or a new one. Download, play and who knows, maybe you’d like it.
