THE ISLAND: CASTAWAY 2 Review by DoubleGames
The exploration of The Island: Castaway 2 is the second installment in the Awem’s most successful Strategy and Simulation game series that has you playing as a teenage islander Yati and learning all the tribe’s secrets.
If you have already dealt with the first title in this series, The Island: Castaway 2 won’t annoy you. The core gameplay is pretty familiar – talk to different characters, collect some fruit or materials and prepare meals. Most of quests are rather plain though, they are all various offering lots of activities like hunting, fishing, handicraft, breeding, planting and even witchcraft. All of these quests are clear but can be rather dangerous for your hero. For example, there are different animals he can hunt, some of them just being clumsy, others harmful. However, this fact brings many challenges to the players.
Apart from these nice quests the artwork of The Island: Castaway 2 is beyond praise. The bright and vivid illustrations along with very good animations eclipse any sibling titles, and the narration also deserves the best words. The designers managed to create holiday atmosphere in the game still adding some disturbing moments.
There are maybe to sore points that can really deter some players. In fact that game might feel too primitive because some players aren’t interested in collecting different fruits and other items. To crown it all, the main hero, Yati, gets hungry very fast and is always starving. So, it might get annoying.
Putting all and all together, The Island: Castaway 2 will appeal for players who are keen on stunning graphics, high production values, nice plot and clear gamplay. In spite of a few flaws this game offers absolutely gripping story and a lot of fun.
