Mystery Chronicles: Betrayals of Love

The role of a shrewd detective is usual for most of us today, isn’t it? In the new hidden object game Mystery Chronicles: Betrayals of Love from the folks at Lazy Turtle Games you play as a detective again solving an ordinary “whodunit” case.

Early 20th century France, the Countess has been murdered, the Count has disappeared under mysterious circumstances, local police are powerless, but you are able to overcome all difficulties. Mystery Chronicles: Betrayals of Love is a mystery hidden object game, where the locations mainly consist of hidden object scenes. In this installment, unlike previous Mystery Chronicles, you are not boxed in a scene to find items. Now you feel like you are free in your traveling around the game. The scenes are caused by events that you completed so you are to back off all over the gameplay to see if a new scene has become available. Not very convenient but it makes the play more flexible.

The game has some good and very bad hidden object scenes which make it difficult to play because the item are too obscure or poor blended into the background. If you are stuck, you can easily use the hint button and it will show you the item at once. The hints reloads very fast so you don’t need to spin them out. There are plenty of interesting mini-games, but some of them are still too very common or dated.  They can be skipped if you don’t feel like playing them. The instructions for some mini-games are rather awkward and often bewilder you.     

Mystery Chronicles: Betrayals of Love has a decent length game which can keep you engaged for a few hours. Some fans of this genre might be put off by the fuzzy looking graphics but they are all of mixed texture. Some illustrations are very easy and others are fairly bad and you have to depend on the hints. All in all, it is a nice mystery story which will enjoy you for a while. Good luck!
