MYSTERY OF THE MISSING BRIGANTINE Review by DoubleGames
It seems that Hidden Object conveyor of Big Fish Games has malfunctioned judging by their next project Mystery of the Missing Brigantine. It’s regrettable, but their games have lately turned into the platitudes, and not the best ones.
First of all, the storyline of Mystery of the Missing Brigantine is too complicated, but in the negative sense. The components of the plot seem to be collected from different stories and are connected with each other anyhow. You are challenged to “jump” from one game location to the other without being explained of what for you’re doing this. Claiming to be an example of classical Hidden Object game, Mystery of the Missing Brigantine is too primitive when speaking about the gameplay composition. That is, there are no classical puzzling mini-games at all. But the up-to-date game of the genre has already outworn those junk pile style scenes, which are the only elements of the gameplay. Just point-and-click – we are through with that.
The only thing which doesn’t cause any reproaches with Mystery of the Missing Brigantine is its graphics. They are quite well done and pleasant to look at. But it isn’t enough for a game to be characterized as qualitative or at least “just not bad”. The musical background is another drawback. It is so irritating that the game should be played in the mute mode.
All in all, Mystery of the Missing Brigantine is not a game to compliment for. Boring and monotonous, it can hardly provoke interest of the experienced Hidden Object gamers. Maybe, it’s not a bad variant of a trial version for the beginners, but even they would play it not more than once.
