MYSTERY SEEKERS: THE SECRET OF THE HAUNTED MANSION REVIEW BY DOUBLEGAMES

Is it possible to have a good idea but do not know how to implement it? Or still implement but in a roughly manner? More often than not! Initially WiiWare had a very good concept that would make their new hidden object game, Mystery Seekers: The Secret of the Haunted Mansion, really unforgettable. But it was not to be... Read more

The fantastic spooky plot of Mystery Seekers: The Secret of the Haunted Mansion, full of exhilarating twist, seems promising but turns out to be a disappointment. The new premise has you resisting ghosts and exploring a haunted mansion. Rolled your sleeves to deal with evil spirits, you find out that the graphics are blurry, the ghosts are too easy to beat, and mini-games are a piece of cake. The game becomes very annoying because you cannot skip all these boring tutorials.

It is a great shame the developers put all their effort in designing every detail in the hidden object backgrounds but hidden items still look awful. You are practically unable to figure any of them out, even if you are staring right at them. Still some fans of hidden object titles may be fond of these vague scenes but we really doubt if they enjoy these plain and illogical mini-games. In Mystery Seekers: The Secret of the Haunted Mansion, you cannot avoid this frustration as no mini-game has a skip button. You have to “enjoy” one or another mini-game from the beginning till its end in order to go further into this game.

Unfortunately, what could have been great offers you no challenge and is too poorly executed. But why? Is it because of developers’ negligence or immaturity? Whatever the reason there is no excuse for them. Everything we want is just to play good games.
