MYSTERY STORIES: MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS Review by DoubleGames
Have you ever visited Antarctica? We don’t think so! With its blue icy barren landscape, whistling wind, and incredible low temperature, this place can hardly ever serve as health resort. But virtual game world is notable for its a wide choice of possibilities. This time around, you have a unique chance to make an amazing tour around this deep-frozen soil with the new Cerasus Media’s Hidden Object game – Mystery Stories: Mountains of Madness.
Honestly, we had started to think that Hidden Object genre was getting stale, but Mystery Stories: Mountains of Madness has given us nice hope. Based on the illustrious novel by H.P. Lovecraft, this installment offers its players a bone-chilling sci-fi story that has you playing as two intrepid researchers and finding the missing expedition team. Although the game isn’t completely faithful to the origin book, the storytelling in this title is terrific.
Mystery Stories: Mountains of Madness is one of those Hidden Object adventure game hybrids that are mainly focused on their adventure part. However, there are few challenging hidden object scenes to explore. The most outstanding thing about this game is its stepwise hint system, you’ve never dealt before. The first click gives you general information about where to go, the second gives you more detailed information.
Graphically, the game is beyond all praise, presenting us numerous eye-popping illustrious. The atmosphere is ideal with all its creepy icy scenes and macabre music. You would enjoy is more but Mystery Stories: Mountains of Madness takes just three hours to finish it.
While this installment can boast of a lot of advantages, it’s not without pitfalls. For example, the puzzles and mini-games are pretty easy and some of them are already overused. There is only one voice-over (the narrator), while the protagonists are always silent. Also, the game is too short for an advanced player. But don’t let this points discourage you, as they are rather insignificant against the common game background.
