NANCY DREW: WARNINGS AT WAVERLY ACADEMY Review by DoubleGames
Our dear Nancy Drew is here with us again in a new game Nancy Drew: Warnings at Waverly Academy, the 21st installment of the world-famous adventure game series from Her Interactive. This time, the game takes players into the snobbish society of a prestigious private academy for girls, where the young detective must go there to learn who has been sending threatening letters to the seniors.
The storyline is rather intriguing but it is little different from previous titles. As usual, we have to solve different mysteries and find hidden ancient treasures. “Why not to create something new?” you may say. Probably the developers consider that there is nothing best but traditions. Or maybe they afraid if they change the core gameplay, it will be not Nancy Drew anymore.
Nevertheless, the puzzles and most mini-games do not disappoint at all. On the contrary they have become more original, requiring logical thinking, a bit of research skills and curiosity. Honestly, Nancy Drew: Warnings at Waverly Academy is easy to follow and tasks can all be solved at a given time interval. You even receive help with finding the clues to complete them. In fact it is impossible to miss the details as you need to figure out all puzzles. Nancy’s cell phone is a nice game feature that let you be a wide-awake person. From time to time you receive text messages with gossip which can be rather useful.
We cannot but admit Her Interactive did a great job with the production values of Warnings at Waverly Academy. The graphics are rich, detailed and natural yet do not slowdown the gameplay. The voice acting is beyond praise that is why the developers make the dialogs inescapable.
All in all, Nancy Drew: Warnings at Waverly Academy is a worthy issue of the series. In spite of some shortcomings this very game is a pretty decent deal and can amuse you for sure.
