PRINCESS ISABELLA: RETURN OF THE CURSE Review by DoubleGames
Princess Isabella series is filled up with the second episode, Princess Isabella: Return of the Curse. The witch defeated in the first part is not going to take things lying down! Now the royal family have got a really blind side – their baby daughter. To take revenge, the witch intends to kidnap the royal baby and to pronounce a curse upon the entire realm, not only the castle. Speaking about Princess Isabella:A Witch’s Curse, the first game of the series, it struck with its quality and set a very high standard. But still, Gogii has expressly outstripped it with this splendid sequel. Attention is given to every detail here, be it the gameplay, characters, animations, backgrounds, storyline and voice acting.
Addicting story continuation is added by the development of power-ups system. Besides the fairy from the first episode, you come across another friend in Princess Isabella: Return of the Curse – the baby dragon, that helps you get extra power-ups. There is one more improvement of the sequel: now you have to explore the hidden object locations, which are the scenes of the numerous parts of the kingdom, instead of staying inside the palace.
Perhaps, some might find the castle not so baroque in Princess Isabella: Return of the Curse. However, the backgrounds are not less sumptuous this time with each landscape having two variants to observe: the cursed and the unspelled. You can hardly find the words to describe the delightful graphics including control designs.
As Princess Isabella: Return of the Curse is darker due to the dramatic storyline of a kidnapped baby princess, the tone of the game is extremely increased with the musical accompaniment, where even the classic melodies familiar from the childhood are entwined. When you have completed the game, you can hardly ever listen to “Mary Had a Little Lamb”, for instance, performed in a way like this.
