SINISTER CITY Review by DoubleGames
Are you bored for lack of a mystical and vampire-type theme? Surely, there are just a few titles of this unusual theme. Let us present a new hidden object game - Sinister City by Big Fish Games. Pardon our pun! There is no need to make a mystery of the fact that casual game market is overloaded with such adventure game as Sinister City. Still we will try to find out something new or at least something interesting.
To start with, Sinister City is not so scary as it presented. The plot looks rather like a movie parody as you always could feel satirical tone. The game reminds a lot of other hidden object titles, and not surprisingly so, because it uses ordinary plot, usual character scratches and usual gameplay. No wonder, we deal with just another Big Fish Games’ title. You have to find different hidden items by letting the main character look in chests, skulls and corners and shoving items aside now and then.
Graphically, Sinister City is good, the dialogue is too lengthy, but engaging enough to want to know where the story leads. The objects are well-drawn and have good size to be figured out. Still, there are hints which show you the exact place of an item. The only downside to this game is the hint recharging, it takes a long time to reload. The mini-puzzles there are very easy but fitting logically to the game and similar but, fortunately, they have their own special graphics for this title. Moreover, the hero’s moving is slow, we find that rather irritating. Luckily, music background fits perfectly the weird environment of the game.
All in all, Sinister City has nothing to show off but we really appreciate its retro 3D-style and good sense of humor. Nice to try!
