TALES FROM THE DRAGON MOUNTAIN: THE STRIX Review by DoubleGames
Tales from the Dragon Mountain: The Strix is a new hidden object adventure game given by Cateia Games where you should explore the weird forests and other places, face odd creatures like a devilish spirit called the Strix.
The veterans of hidden object adventure games might be well familiar and enjoy with Cateia Games’ Kaptain Brawe. They will expect the same of Tales from the Dragon Mountain: The Strix and won’t be disappointed as this title not only inherited the all-consuming gameplay and lovely graphics from its predecessors but assumed a lot of absolute new features. One great thing about this game is that you are allowed to choose one of three difficulty level. Honestly, all these modes are challenging enough to be entertaining but not too hard to be frustrating. The hint system may bewilder you for a while but not compulsive at all. In fact, this game is for independent players who like solve things themselves with minimal help.
In Tales from the Dragon Mountain: The Strix, the puzzles are principally inventory types, and those which you collect objects to complete tasks. None of these mini-games falls out of general idea of the game but they all rather support the context. The title progresses nicely through chapters that are not very long, but there are plenty things to do.
Visually, the game is nice but sometimes a bit clunky. Unfortunately, there are graphics that remind us some older games that were designed with 3D rendering, however there is no 3D at all. Two or so characters are drawn absolutely awful. Thankfully, the music background is quite soft and fits well with this story.
In sum, Tales from the Dragon Mountain: The Strix is a good adventure game with a fine puzzle portion, spectacular illustrations and reasonable musical themes. Of course, this won’t appeal to everyone, but those who give it a try won’t be sorry. It is really compelling and different. Have fun!
