To start with, The Agency of Anomalies: Cinderstone Orphanage has the same old story that we’ve tried before. The mini-games are the same old recycled jigsaw puzzles, mazes, gears and sliders. They have been still refreshed a little and a few are entertaining but nothing extaordinary. Inventory items are not particularly challenging. There’s a lot of running around to find the thing you know you need. Very little trying to figure out how to use the items you have. The hidden items to collect in every scene are very easy to spot.

However, the worst point of this title is that there are too much hand-holding. Crisp text hints, dialogue that tells you what to do next. It even tells you what you will be doing later, before you have unlocked this or that scene. Surely, this fact takes the most interesting, intriguing aspect of this game and completely spoil all the fun. It seems that the time of clever games where we had to use our brain has passed away forever.

Graphically, a deserted orphanage at Christmas, is fine and even poignant. The atmosphere of misery and anxiety is brilliantly presented by the designers. The music background is also keeps the main wood of the title and never obtrusive. All in all, The Agency of Anomalies: Cinderstone Orphanage would have become more popular if it had been released in time (Christmas Eve or so). Christmas fever faded and took the urgency of this sort of games. But if you prefer to play the game, not the story, this installment can be still interesting for you.
