Combining the classic solitaire gameplay with pleasant hidden object scenes and excellent fantasy style graphics, this installment will probably appeal to the fans of unusual card and board games. In truth, it is hard for us to write about this game something meaningful, because it is so cool that we just can’t find the right words to describe all its greatness.
Well, let’s put first things first. Perhaps, the most impressive thing about this game is its graphics, so we shall dwell for a moment on this point to help you get an idea of just how great it is. Bright, colorful and highly detailed backgrounds, pleasantly drawn archetypal characters, such as an old mage wearing a long white beard or a malicious sorcerer in dark robe, animated tree branches, charming little fairies and ignis fatuus hiding in lush grass made us feel as if we got inside a wonderful book of fairy tales, where good we always triumphs over evil.
Delicate, melodic and unobtrusive background music perfectly complements the magic atmosphere, which, combined with excellent decks, makes the game truly enjoyable. In addition, there is good voice acting during the cut scenes, so you won’t have to read the dialogue in complete silence. Given all the advantages of the game, even the simple plot doesn’t seem such a big proble, does it?
As for the gameplay, there are two levels of difficulty, one of which is relaxing and fun, while the other turned out to be unexpectedly hard. Of course, as in the vast majority of card and board games, in The Chronicles of Emerland Solitaire you will have to rely on luck, rather than on your attentiveness or logic skills. In a nutshell, it is a traditional one below, one above solitaire game with pretty useful bonuses, nice, but simple hidden object scenes and the cool ability to buy magic items from the store.
By the way, if hearing the cherished phrase you have imagined scenic location with tons of hidden object, we may disappoint you. The hidden object scenes in The Chronicles of Emerland Solitaire are moderately easy, most hidden objects lie in plain sight, and the items that you are tasked to find in each stage are of the same kind. Still, for all their primitiveness, the hidden object scenes bring much diversity to the game.
Perhaps, it would sound too deliberate, but we haven’t seen such brilliant card game as The Chronicles of Emerland Solitaire in a very long time. It is a true masterpiece of game art with high replay value that will surely find its place in you collection. Have a good time!
