The Chronicles of Shakespeare: Romeo & Juliet

Big Fish Games presented new Hidden Object game The Chronicles of Shakespeare: Romeo & Juliet. But we think it is a great mix of an Adventure game and Hidden Object game, so you want to get an actual hidden object game this won’t be for you, however if you want to try a point and click adventure but find them pretty hard this is a good place to start. That’s why for those of you who love adventure games, this is a good one. The first thing that gets your attention is the storyline and characters. Who doesn’t know the most beautiful and the most heartbreaking love story about Romeo and Juliet?  The game takes you to London in 1590, at the time of Shakespeare. Immerse yourself in the story and help the two lovers. It is really well done, it’ll let you think that you read the book.

Like most adventures it does not hurry you along apace, instead you should take time to watch the scenes that are played out in between the gameplay scenes. This opening is beautiful, with good music appropriate to the subject and era. Don’t skip it, because it sets the plot that’s outside the Romeo and Juliet plot. The Chronicles of Shakespeare: Romeo & Juliet has beautiful and detailed artwork, the graphics are crisp and clear and the historical period is well illustrated. Items are appropriate and the colors, rich and vibrant. But with that many objects are difficult to see. The fact that Romeo and Juliet look rather like Hollywood starlets is funny, but that’s fine.

The game developers showed off their quite wonderful artistry, but really need to pull back and give us something to play. We are not going to deny that it’s annoying not to be able to just pick up everything and store it in your inventory, but it also allows you to actually think about what the game is about.

All in all the creators give us an acceptable game with compelling gameplay and stunning graphics. The Chronicles of Shakespeare: Romeo & Juliet is a good adventure game with a fine puzzle portion, spectacular illustrations and reasonable musical themes. Of course, this won’t appeal to everyone, but those who give it a try won’t regret that!
