MAGICAL MYSTERIES: PATH OF THE SORCERESS Review by DoubleGames
Like most casual games Magical Mysteries: Path of the Sorceress gives us an intriguing promise: use your best Match-3 skills in an absolute new way to unfold magic scrolls, cook special potions, and repulse your weird opponents. Yet while the folks at Alder Games assure us that their game is the best one, we have to admit it is not quite as splendid as it sounds, and not really fresh at all but rather a regular Match-3 title with slight diversions of the well-familiar stuff.
Magical Mysteries: Path of the Sorceress is a typical Match-3 game with normal, hard, and very hard modes. Although the gameplay is fast-paced, there is a good strategic portion as well. Your aim is to be well-organized, think fast and make many productive moves without wasting too much time pondering over whether they are the best moves. Sadly, this installment is not very helpful. You see, there are no instructions or guide to the gameplay, so you desperately have to click and click till you know what is what.
It all makes you bewildered with what is going on, and you always feel like missing out on something or not playing because you simple do not know about it. Magical Mysteries: Path of the Sorceress is also very sober in graphics; the visuals are accurate and the music background is decent but it lacks variety a bit, and soon it becomes very tedious and repetitive. However, there is no big problem as you can always turn off your headphones.
In conclusion, this title cannot bid to become the gem of the Match-3 genre, but it is a fine game that offers a good challenge. In spite of some shortcomings there are plenty of surprises and interesting things. Have fun!
