Dreams of a Geisha

Dreams of a Geisha by Big Fish Games is based on the story where it is told about Ichisumi, the young girl having a dream to restore the historical significance of the Geisha’s culture. The introductory words are quite attractive and even a bit too constituent for a Match-3 game, and it is the voice-over which makes the opening remarks so inviting to the game. You start the game having one unlocked pagoda, and there are three more left to open.

Even if you are very picky choosing a Match-3 game, Dreams of a Geisha can surely interest you due to its varied gameplay. It’s much more than regular clicking on the icons to make chains of three. There are different game modes to pass through a level. Group, chain, swap and a new one, “token in hand” mode are available in each of the pagodas. The last one can be very useful: you place a token anywhere on the board to complete a match. Besides, you can rotate the gaming board when it’s necessary to reach your aim. As you complete five levels in one temple, you unlock the next one.

In the matter of the graphics of Dreams of a Geisha, they are, firstly, themed and, secondly, very colorful and pleasant. Japanese motives pierce all the scenic backgrounds though, but there is nothing superfluous or fancy. Each gaming board is of a peculiar design. Besides, you are followed by a beautiful 2D geisha throughout the game. One more lively graphical element is the gates which open and shut as you enter or exit a mode.

Background oriental music is a characteristic which plays an appreciable role in Dreams of a Geisha. It is so well done that it agrees with the game style completely not being annoying or insensible. On the contrary, the music is very relaxing like in most Asian-themed games.
