GHOST TOWNS: THE CATS OF ULTHAR COLLECTOR'S EDITION Review by DoubleGames
There is one funny regularity about casual games: when you expect a lot, you are disappointed, but when you don’t expect much, you are pleasantly surprised. Ghost Towns: The Cats Of Ulthar, a new Hidden Object game from Tabagames, is the latter case, for a several reasons.
To start with, the story of an odd city mad on cats is different, rather interesting and very engaging. Once again you step into helper’s shoes and save poor boy from unfairness. The game doesn’t annoy you with huge plot, offering you just few cutscenes to plunge you into the storyline. You are free from boring and tedious dialogues that usually tend to boost a gameplay.
Although this gameplay is pretty standard the, this fact doesn’t spoil the challenging effect of it at all. In Ghost Towns: The Cats Of Ulthar, the hidden object scenes are muddy and junkpile though, most of them are easy to get through. Most of mini-games are familiar to every fan of this sort of games but still there are some very unique puzzles. Anyway, the overall gameplay isn’t boring but even rather hard to stop playing. Moreover, the little cats to collect throughout the title are fun and the pictures of them is also very cute. The meowing of the kittens when you use the hint button is absolutely great and unique there. If cat is your favorite pet, you will definitely appreciate this installment.
The artwork is a bit muddy but still nice and pleasant to watch. There are no voice-overs and you won’t miss these because most likely you will play without any sound. The music is ordinary, has nothing catching but at least not so obtrusive.
Summing up, Ghost Towns: The Cats Of Ulthar is mainly for those who are tired of usual Hidden Object games about ghosts and spirits. If you are looking for a game without massive plot, give this a try for sure.
