First and foremost, it is very important to mention that plot is essential to Dreamscapes: The Sandman. This game has an incredibly original and gripping storyline that will keep you in your seat for hours. The storyline goes like this: You witness a terrifying scene where Laure, a young girl, blacks out and falls into coma. This happens because of the nightmares she had had her whole life and which were filled with evil. Now this evil broke loose, it got her trapped inside her dreams. With the help of a scientist, and you as a volunteer, there might be hope for Laura. However, you will have to delve deep into her mind and her dreams in order to save her. Can you do it?

If the storyline intrigued you, then you will be thoroughly satisfied with the gameplay. Dreamscapes: The Sandman is a wonderful mixture of hidden object genre with many elements from puzzles and adventures. This unique mixture has maybe one flaw: it is too easy. This might be due to the fact that there are no standard hidden object scenes which would slow down the progress in the game, but nonetheless, the puzzles in it are way too easy. Most of them have some kind of rotating or turning different pieces to form an image or a picture which is significant for the ghastly locations where Laura is trapped. And although these are interesting in the beginning, they can be a bit boring afterwards. Mini-games, on the other hand, are just amazing: there are some games where you should crack the secret numerical code, to employ your logic skills and there is even a tribute to Super Mario Bros games. You will have to admit that this is a strange and very interesting combination. There are some achievements and a lot of collectibles inside the game, and this might be a bit more challenging. Of course, you will have an inventory, some hints and help, just in case you get stuck. As for the customization options, you can select custom cursors, adjust the sound etc.

The whole package starts to shine when we add graphics and music. Firstly, this is one of the scariest games you will play, it has haunting and eerie images, with all the clowns, dolls and other types of monsters in this dream world. All character models are done in three dimensions, while backgrounds are two dimensional. And even though the game is full of these scary images at the beginning, the backgrounds change when you solve the case, changing into a dream! As for the music, it is really nice.

All in all, Dreamscapes: The Sandman is an incredible hidden object game with awesome audio-visual experience, intriguing and captivating story and fun gameplay! You will surely enjoy it!
