Big Fish Games gave us their one of the most intriguing and mysterious Hidden Object series in strict sequence. Firstly, we got acquainted with Mystery Case Files: Ravenhearst, which dived us into the maze-like house of horror. Then we were returned into this twisted house in Mystery Case Files: Return to Ravenhearst and found there more sinister points. Now in the latest installment we must escape in Mystery Case Files: Escape from Ravenhearst... Read more

If you have never played these group of games, here is a short summary: the ominous guy named Charles trapped the spirit of his beloved woman in the dark mansion of Ravenhearst. Taking the role of the intrepid sleuth, you are to free poor woman and her twin daughters. This time around, Charles has just trapped more people and there is only you who is able to figure out all these mysterious disappearances. Delve deep and enjoy, although you might need some antianxiety drugs afterward, ha-ha.

Mystery Case Files: Escape from Ravenhearst plays as a usual point-and-click adventure, involving some challenging hidden object scenes and superb graphics. While the first two titles were very dark, the third one became even more sinister. The developers themselves define their new game product as “an intense psychological thriller that may reveal deep-seated fears” and thoughtfully warn the players that this is “Not for the young or faint of heart ”.

However, macabre atmosphere of the game is not the only point that can deter Hidden Object-lovers.  It is still greatly to be feared, that some fans won’t appreciate the spin on hidden object puzzles. Instead of classic shop list of items, you will have something extraordinary: morphing objects. The idea of finding morphing objects, instead of finding hidden objects is surely unique, and would have worked for maybe 3 or 4 scenes in the whole game. But to make us staring at the screen every few minutes, to see something change in shape, is rather a mockery.

Overall, there is a good number of interesting mini-games, which can be easily skipped. Along with absolutely stunning scenes you will hear pretty dramatic music and bone-chilling sound effects. As for the change from ordinary hidden object puzzles to the morphing ones it can definitely find its fans. So, if scary movies is your cup of tea,  Mystery Case Files: Ravenhearst is clearly for you!
