Dark Parables: The Exiled Prince

Unlike most hidden object game where you should collect hidden items, Dark Parables: The Exiled Prince has you scanning every scene in order to find parts of various items that will be used at some inventory puzzles. It’s a challenging approach to the hidden object genre, but this sort of gameplay may feel a little insignificant and plain at times. We have nothing against “hidden fragments” but we would prefer to deal with full-fledged objects. Why not to make a mix of fragmented and full items? Nevertheless, the title has a good number of puzzles that are not extremely difficult and a “skip button” is always available for those who don’t want to be stuck too long. Despite being a quite dark game for the most part the title avoids the problem of having its hidden object backgrounds too blurry to distinguish items. Objects might sometimes be difficult to find, but this is usually when a fragment is well-hidden.

This game is very similar to its predecessor Dark Parables: The Curse of the Briar Rose. Still, the second installment is improved both in graphics and game length. The new title is a real drama based on fear, pain, grief and loss. So the developer payed a lot of attention to the game atmosphere to convey gloomy mood. While the visuals are gorgeous, the music is not so impressive but always pleasant and subtle. 

In the conclusion, Dark Parables: The Exiled Prince is not ideal. But with high quality of production values, intricate storyline and surprises, this is a game that can easily keep a hidden object fan intrigued and addicted.
