It’s been almost a year since the release of a very good pc/mac game Lost Legends: The Weeping Woman. Unfortunately the Gunnar Games studio that made it didn’t release any sequel since that time and concentrated more on their Small Town Terrors series. So, you go to the little Mexican town San Cristobal with the aim of solving the mystery about the missing kids. Legend says there’s some woman’s spirit who seeks revenge on the city for nobody knows what. You play as a reporter who travels to this town and solves the crime. We liked this storyline very much, even though the concept about the kidnapped children is nothing new to the genre. At least we get to learn about that woman’s past, and backstories are not the most frequent aspect in Hidden object games just like the Mexican atmosphere.
Festive decorations, vivid joyful colors and bright graphics are very typical to this type of games. Visually The Weeping Woman is a very appealing game, sometimes it even looks like it’s a fantasy game. All locations are colorful and very bright, hidden object scenes are sharp and pleasant to look at as well. We really should thank the creators for such gorgeous installment, because usually hidden object games for pc/mac are dark and gloomy. Soundtrack is full of mexican melodies which can’t help but create even the better mood and atmosphere. Sound effects are well done, so are the voice overs.
The only thing that bothered us a little was the gameplay. Nothing memorable and exceptional, plus the lack of challenge kind of ruined the excitement. This game has more puzzles to solve than locations to explore, and those puzzles are not even innovative and not difficult. We would love this game to be harder so everyone could play it. But with all that we could only recommend Lost Legends: The Weeping Woman for the beginners.
