The object of the game is to get a higher card total than the dealer, but without going over 21 which is called "busting" or "too many." This game requires some card experience and ability to risk, because the player always has the possibility to choose what he/she will do after getting two cards: "Hit," "Stand," "Double Down," or "Split a pair."
