Before the development of this game, a developing team from Frostkeep Studios derived inspiration from Nordic tales and myths. As a result, Rend turned out to be a survival role-playing game with the elements of fantasy. This is a pretty rough and desirable mix for anyone whois eager to play online massive multiplayer games of this kind. The in-game challenging ranking system allows to power-up skills from zero to godlike and assure the induction to the legendary Valhalla. Classic and Exploration modes were designed to play alone. It is brutal though since you're on your own to clash with other gamers and fabulous creatures while being on a mission to simply survive and find needed resources. Faction War mode is quite interesting to play together with your friends choosing one of three violent factions. In this mode you must build a stronghold first and make it fully equipped for tower defense against hordes of monsters and groups of scavengers. This mode also features the so-called cycles. By the end of each cycle the most effective faction is chosen to be victorious and gets the special rewards and upgrades. These are important as the new cycle is about to start immediately.
