SMALL TOWN TERRORS: LIVINGSTON REVIEW BY DOUBLEGAMES

The guys from Gunnar Games offer us another tired story under the title Small Town Terrors: Livingston about missing family and the evil-doer, who has enveloped the whole town. Why tired? Because broken down car, spooky atmosphere, old dilapidated buildings and ugly scenes have been seen and done many times before... Read more

Why they go on feeding us with all these trite titles, while so many players are complaining on them? Do they really believe that this is a way to show off their independence or so? Anyway, today we deal with one of those games that don’t entertain, but even depress very much.

Firstly, Small Town Terrors: Livingston has a below-standard artwork, a realistic-looking one, which looks rather grubby and unpleasant. Secondly, the core graphics are present by three leading colors: red, green, blue. Honestly, it is quite depressing having to play a whole game with these graphics and in an environment where the whole world is covered in either red, green or blue. It cannot but make player feel like wanting to run outside to get some fresh air.

This kind of artwork makes the hidden object scenes very annoying as there is almost no contrast and hidden items are too tiny. You are required to be very attentive and patient to find all items with minimal penalties for random clicking. However, the puzzles are of good difficulty level and have some new takes on classical tasks. The hint system also works well, providing you with a good number of quickly reloading hints.

Nevertheless, Small Town Terrors: Livingston is full of cons, for example, the music is very bad and repetitive. Because of non-interactive map you have do a fair amount of back and forth.

Overall, this title is far from being the best one. If you are subject to eyestrain, you’d better not play this game.
