As this is a very important feature of every hidden object game, producers of 9: The Dark Side of Notre Dame did their best to create an original story that shows Paris also as a city full of mystery. The storyline goes like this: You are in Paris, spending your vacation peacefully. All of a sudden, you get a call from the police who need your detective skills with a case. You find out that during the Festival of Fools one tourist disappeared! This is not very weird, but it is weird that this tourist was kidnapped by gargoyles of Notre Dame cathedral! As your specialization is in arcane arts, you are the right person for solving this case! Your only clue is that it has something to do with a famous gem which has magical powers! If you want to find out what it is all about, then play the game!

Next up is the gameplay in 9: The Dark Side of Notre Dame. This game is described as an adventurous hidden object games with puzzles and mini-games. This successful mixture of genres provides you with many choices about options; firstly with three levels of difficulty, and then with other basic options. You are promised eight chapters of pure fun and mystery, plus the bonus one (available in the Collector’s Edition). The game challenges you with many hidden object scenes which are activated were intelligently, so there is a natural flow in the gameplay. These hidden objects scenes are very good and interesting. Other than those, we also have a bunch of puzzles and mini-games. Unfortunately, some of the puzzles aren’t really original, but we must say that it is hard to find original puzzles nowadays. Rotating and joining puzzle pieces, or connecting circuits are the usual mini-games we see all the time. What is good in this game are the fast travel map, a lot of achievements and collectibles and a very helpful companion who is a good gargoyle!

Finally, we bring this review to a close by mentioning graphics and music. Graphics are phenomenal: Paris is represented beautifully, there are many enjoyable scenes and the cathedral of Notre Dame is represented very well. Music in the background is excellent, with many original scores, which really remind you of France. However, voice acting is not as good, and it is the only bad thing here.

To conclude, 9: The Dark Side of Notre Dame is a magnificent hidden object games with adventurous spirit and great mini-games and puzzles, which presents us a mystical side of Paris in beautiful graphics, through solid gameplay. There are some little problems, but nothing to spoil the fun! Enjoy!
