Insurgency

By the time of release Insurgency, the team from New World Interactive already had Day of Infamy and the Source engine mod of the same name as this game title. Little did they know that this game will win the Indie of the Year award from IndieDB and become the gold standard of realistic tactical first-person shooters. How did they manage to make such an intriguing game? The answer is simple: they did the best incorporating remarkable features of their own mod and pushing the abilities of the Source engine to the edge. The game depicts fictional Middle Eastern, Africa, and Central Asia conflicts with the following participators: insurgents and regular troops. Developers aimed at a life-like experience and didn't include crosshair leaving players to rely solely on the accuracy of shooting. Weapons generate authentic gunfire sounds. There are tons of maps and game modes for both cooperative and multiplayer game modes. The well-known deathmatch and capture the flag are presented with a twist or two and relying heavily on tactics and coordination of an entire squad. An in-game Voip was implemented for a reason: sometimes it's crucial to inform your squad leader on your whereabouts and current state of the battlefield. Mobility also plays an important role in Insurgency, so you'd better customize your outfit in an advance for movement speed. All game modes are available offline for practice. It's logical to exercise before plunging into immersive online battles with your friends.
